The Pairing

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

The Reasoning

Early in Six of Crows , Kaz Brekker strikes a deal to perform a dangerous, practically suicidal heist in return for thirty million kruge. It seems like as good an excuse as any to create a cocktail version of millionaire’s shortbread!

The Cocktail

You will need:

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Martini glass
  • 2 saucers
  • 5-6 ice cubes
  • Graham crackers/digestive biscuits x2
  • Caramel sauce
  • 2 oz brandy (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: Omit this Ingredient)
  • 1 oz creme de cacao (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: 1 oz Chocolate Sauce)
  • 2 oz half & half or cream (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: Additional 2 oz Half & Half or Cream)
  • 1 pinch cocoa powder

Take your graham crackers/digestives and crush into crumbs using a spoon or food processor. In one of your saucers, put the crumbs, and in the other saucer put 1 tsp of caramel sauce. Rim your martini glass first with the caramel sauce, then the crumbs. Tap to knock off any loose crumbs and set aside.

Put your ice cubes in the cocktail shaker and then measure your brandy, creme de cacao, half & half/cream into it, plus 2 tbsp of caramel sauce. Shake vigorously and pour into your prepared martini glass. Take your pinch of cocoa powder and sprinkle onto the surface. Enjoy, just don’t get too angsty while you do. 😉

I’m Wol, resident bartender for the Inn, and maker of fantasy themed cocktails. I’m a big advocate for quality self-published novels. In addition to reading, I enjoy videogames, cooking, gardening, geeky cross-stitch, and, more recently, D&D. Outside of fantasy I read a lot of classics and I have a fondness for noir. My favorite fantasy authors include: Robin Hobb, Philip Pullman, Liam Perrin, Terry Pratchett, Anna Smith Spark, K.S. Villoso, Josiah Bancroft and Quenby Olson.
