Over Raging Tides by Jennifer Ellision

The Reasoning

From the ship’s articles of the Lady Luck:

Any woman in want of a life at sea shall be permitted to join the ship’s crew.

Another pirate fantasy! Recently I made my own take on Bumbo, a genuine historical cocktail beloved by pirates and commonfolk alike. This time around I wanted to keep a caribbean flavor (and of course, the rum) so I’m adding ginger beer to the mix. This results in a sort of piratey take on a moscow mule, but it’s tasty so I’m going with it. 🙂

The Recipe

You will need:

  • Highball Glass or Copper Mug
  • Ice
  • 2 oz Spiced Rum
  • 1 oz Black Rum
  • 1 Lime (1 wedge, 1 oz juice)
  • Ginger Beer (I prefer a strong ginger flavor, like Bundaberg or Cock n’ Bull)

Fill your glass/mug with ice. Measure out your rum, cut a wedge from the lime and place in glass. Squeeze 1 oz lime juice and add to glass. Top up with ginger beer and stir.

I’m Wol, resident bartender for the Inn, and maker of fantasy themed cocktails. I’m a big advocate for quality self-published novels. In addition to reading, I enjoy videogames, cooking, gardening, geeky cross-stitch, and, more recently, D&D. Outside of fantasy I read a lot of classics and I have a fondness for noir. My favorite fantasy authors include: Robin Hobb, Philip Pullman, Liam Perrin, Terry Pratchett, Anna Smith Spark, K.S. Villoso, Josiah Bancroft and Quenby Olson.
