The Pairing

Kings of the Wyld, by Nicholas Eames

The Reasoning

While Kings of the Wyld certainly stands as a fabulous fantasy adventure in its own right, a large part of its character comes from the myriad references to classic rock of the 60s and 70s. I knew very early on that this cocktail would feature bourbon, and I played around with a few ideas based on Led Zeppelin, The Stones and The Beatles, but ultimately I had to settle on Pink Floyd. I like to think that SAGA would approve. 🙂

The Cocktail

You will need:

  • Blender
  • Glass Tumbler
  • Strainer or Cheesecloth
  • Toothpick or little plastic sword thingy
  • 10 black grapes
  • Ice Cubes
  • 1 oz Grape Juice
  • 2 oz Bourbon
  • 1 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 Pinch Salt

Fill a glass tumbler with ice and set aside.

Add 8 of the 10 grapes to the blender, along with a couple of ice cubes, grape juice, bourbon, triple sec and salt. Pulse to break up the ice, and then blend until smooth. Pour through a strainer or cheesecloth to remove any grape skins and seeds.

Pour the remaining mixture over the ice, and spear the couple of remaining grapes on a toothpick or plastic sword for garnish.

Cheers! Wish you were here. 😉

Author: Wol

I’m Wol, resident bartender for the Inn, and maker of fantasy themed cocktails. I’m a big advocate for quality self-published novels. In addition to reading, I enjoy videogames, cooking, gardening, geeky cross-stitch, and, more recently, D&D. Outside of fantasy I read a lot of classics and I have a fondness for noir. My favorite fantasy authors include: Robin Hobb, Philip Pullman, Liam Perrin, Terry Pratchett, Anna Smith Spark, K.S. Villoso, Josiah Bancroft and Quenby Olson.
