The Pairing

Art of War by Petros Triantafyllou (Various Authors)

The Reasoning

It was so difficult to decide on my top 10 favorite stories in the Art of War anthology, and even more so to decide what to do cocktail-wise. I briefly considered basing my drink on my favorite story, but ultimately I felt like that would be a disservice to the many incredible writers and artists and editors and every single person who got involved and gave their time and talent to such a worthy cause. I am in awe. While not every tale spoke to me, most of them touched me in some way and it was a hell of a ride. This one’s for you, you magnificent army of creative lovelies.

The Cocktail

You will need:

  • Cocktail Shaker/Strainer
  • Martini glass
  • 4-6 ice cubes
  • Black cocktail cherries & 2 tsp syrup
  • Plastic sword (optional, but why wouldn’t you, COME ON)
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 1 oz sweet vermouth
  • 1 oz black raspberry liqueur

Spear two cocktail cherries onto a sword, and place over the edge of your martini glass. Spoon 2 tsp of the cherry syrup into the bottom of the glass.

Put your ice cubes into your cocktail shaker and then measure your vodka, vermouth and raspberry liqueur into it. Stir. Strain into the glass.

Enjoy! Also I think Travis deserves a special mention here:

Author: Wol

I’m Wol, resident bartender for the Inn, and maker of fantasy themed cocktails. I’m a big advocate for quality self-published novels. In addition to reading, I enjoy videogames, cooking, gardening, geeky cross-stitch, and, more recently, D&D. Outside of fantasy I read a lot of classics and I have a fondness for noir. My favorite fantasy authors include: Robin Hobb, Philip Pullman, Liam Perrin, Terry Pratchett, Anna Smith Spark, K.S. Villoso, Josiah Bancroft and Quenby Olson.
