The Wolf of Oren-Yaro, by K.S. Villoso
Adrift and alone in a dangerous land foreign to her, Talyien has the good luck to run into a lovable rogue called Khine, who takes a shine to her. He takes her in and gives her comfort in the form of a place to stay, companionship and good home cooked food and drink. Here’s my version of his warm milk tea.
You will need:
- Small saucepan
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 4 English Breakfast Tea bags
- 1 oz amaretto (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: 1 oz Almond Syrup)
- 2 oz brandy (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: Omit this Ingredient)
- 2 saucers
- Condensed milk
- Raw/Turbinado sugar
- 8 oz milk (your preferred %)(Non-Alcoholic Substitute: Additional 2 oz Milk)
First, you will need to make black tea syrup. Take your cup of water and cup of sugar and pour into a small saucepan. Heat on high, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil. Remove from heat and put your 4 English Breakfast tea bags into the mixture, stir, and leave to steep for 10 minutes. Once cooled, remove the tea bags and discard them, then pour the syrup into a jar – this can be refrigerated for up to a month.
Take your two saucers. In one, pour a shallow layer of condensed milk. In the other, pour some raw sugar. Take an Irish coffee glass or regular mug, and coat the rim in condensed milk, followed by the raw sugar. Once the glass/mug is rimmed, pour 2 tbsp tea syrup, 1 oz amaretto and 2 oz brandy into the glass/mug and set aside.
In a saucepan, heat 8 oz of milk to boiling point. Once heated, top up the glass/mug with milk and stir. Enjoy, and forget about that shithead. He’s not worth it! 😉
