Pairs With

Lumena and Clowdfrey by Steve Thomas

Inspiration

Clowdfrey is the God of Pleasant Days, and Lumena is the Goddess of Sparkly Things and Most of What Glows in the Night Sky. Here the bright blue cocktail represents Clowdfrey’s clear skies, and the sugar rim and starfruit garnish represent Lumena, and all that sparkles in the night. If you’re feeling especially fancy, you could add a little edible glitter to the sugar. 🙂

Recipe

You will need:

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Ice Cubes
  • Citrus Juicer
  • Martini Glass
  • Baker’s/Superfine Sugar
  • Saucer
  • Sharp Knife
  • 1 Lemon (1 wedge, 1 oz juice)
  • 1 Lime (1 oz juice)
  • 1 Slice Starfruit
  • 2.5 oz Vodka
  • 2 oz Blue Curacao

Take a tablespoon or two of the sugar and spread on the saucer. Take your knife and cut a wedge from the lemon – use this to coat the rim of the glass with lemon juice and then rim the glass with sugar. Tap to loosen excess sugar, then cut a slice of starfruit and add to the rim of the glass as garnish. Set aside.

Fill cocktail shaker with ice.

Cut the remaining lemon in half, and the lime. Squeeze 1oz of juice from each fruit and add to the cocktail shaker. Measure vodka and blue curacao into the shaker and shake vigorously for about 10 seconds. Strain into the martini glass and serve.
