Inspiration
“She wore a simple silk robe of purple. Her hair reached down to the middle of her back. When in Kingshold, she would braid it to keep it out of her face. Here in the jungle, she settled for the old methods and used fresh mud from the bank of a small stream to slick it back and hold it in place.”
This is a thick chocolate cocktail with a hit of cayenne to represent the mud Neenahwi uses in her braids, paired with her fiery nature. 🙂
Recipe
Glass rim:
- Martini glass
- 2 saucers
- 1 tsp cocoa
- 1/4 tsp cayenne
- 1 tsp superfine/baker’s sugar
- Dark chocolate syrup (I recommend Monin)
In one saucer put cocoa, cayenne and sugar. Use a spoon to mix together. In the other saucer, put a dot of dark chocolate syrup. Run the rim of the glass through the chocolate syrup, then the cocoa mixture and tap with a finger to shake off any loose powder. Squeeze some of the chocolate syrup around the inside of the glass, then set aside.
Drink:
- Cocktail Shaker
- 6-8 ice cubes
- 2 oz spiced rum (Non-Alcoholic Version: Omit this Ingredient)
- 2 oz heavy whipping cream (Non-Alcoholic Version: 4 oz)
- 1.5 oz dark choc syrup
- 1 generous pinch of cayenne
Place all ingredients in the cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for about 10 secs. Strain into your prepared glass, sprinkle a generous pinch of the glass rim mixture over the drink, and enjoy!
If you want more spice then feel free to up the cayenne or maybe add a little cinnamon, but be careful with your spice as this is one of those cocktails where the intensity builds the more of it you drink. 😊
My favorite character in Kingshold. I need to make this drink.
