The Pairing

Death March by Phil Tucker

The Reasoning

Barfo was my favorite side character in Death March, and his love of making soup and his happiness at the enjoyment of others really struck a chord for me. At one point during the novel Barfo makes a bat head soup that Chris finds to be surprisingly delicious – I loved the idea of taking a crack at this, making something that looks a bit gross but is actually tasty is always fun, and with Halloween on the way this seemed like the right call. Mint chocolate fans, this one’s for you. 🙂

The Recipe

You will need:

  • Cocktail Shaker
  • Martini Glass
  • Ice
  • Cocktail Stick
  • Milk Chocolate Truffle (to represent the bat head)
  • 1 oz Creme de Menthe (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: 1 oz Green Mint Syrup)
  • 2 oz Creme de Cacao (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: 1 oz Chocolate Sauce)
  • 2 oz Half & Half

Fill your cocktail shaker with ice. Add Creme de Menthe, Creme de Cacao and Half & Half. Shake vigorously and measure into your martini glass.

Spear the chocolate truffle on your cocktail stick and add as garnish.

Enjoy your +1 to Intoxication!

I’m Wol, resident bartender for the Inn, and maker of fantasy themed cocktails. I’m a big advocate for quality self-published novels. In addition to reading, I enjoy videogames, cooking, gardening, geeky cross-stitch, and, more recently, D&D. Outside of fantasy I read a lot of classics and I have a fondness for noir. My favorite fantasy authors include: Robin Hobb, Philip Pullman, Liam Perrin, Terry Pratchett, Anna Smith Spark, K.S. Villoso, Josiah Bancroft and Quenby Olson.
