The Pairing

An Ill-Fated Sky, by Darrell Drake

The Reasoning

Both apricots and wine feature heavily in A Star-Reckoner’s Legacy, and given Drake’s penchant for vivid imagery I decided that a twist on a tequila sunrise was in order. Here, apricot juice/nectar takes the place of OJ and ruby port stands in for grenadine. What we’re left with is a cocktail that’s simple to make, attractive and delicious. 🙂

The Cocktail

You will need:

  • Ice Cubes
  • 2 oz Tequila (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: Omit this Ingredient)
  • 1.5 oz Ruby Port (Non-Alcoholic Substitute: 1.5 oz Cranberry Juice)
  • Apricot Nectar/Juice

Fill a tall glass with ice cubes. Measure in 2 oz tequila, then pour in apricot juice until about half an inch from the rim of the glass. Slowly pour over 1.5 oz ruby port. Do not stir.

Enjoy, and watch out for those Half-Divs. They’re šo-rotten eggs.
